Wilderness and Remote First Aid

Have you taken First Aid before? Did your First Aid course cover the concerns you would face during your Wilderness and Remote activities?

The Red Cross recognizes there are important differences between Wilderness/Remote First Aid and urban-based First Aid. The latter is founded on rapid access to ambulance and medical services and short term management of illness and injury. These strategies have little value in most wilderness situations.

Our First Aid course is an experiential 32 or 40 hour course designed for individuals who engage in wilderness and remote activities. The course will enable participants to appreciate the realities of giving First Aid in a remote and adverse environments. Emphasis is on practical skills, decision making and dealing with the challenges presented by the environment.

Completion of the course gives you a Wilderness and Remote First Aid Certification, recognized in 175 countries. The course can be designed for your particular interest: Kayaking, Climbing, Hiking, Outdoor Leaders, Guides, Wildlife and Forestry Workers.
