There are five levels of personal performance tests.  They gradually build up the range and level of performance of the strokes and techniques necessary for successful paddling in the canoeing discipline concerned.  The first three levels are assessed on flat water, while 4 and 5 are assessed in the real situation to which they relate. There are no age restrictions on BCU tests.  The levels are intended as 'milestones' to indicate when natural learning plateaus have been reached, as follows:

          BCU Star Levels

  • Star 1 - Beginner

  • Star 2 - Improver

  • Star 3 - Intermediate

  • Star 4 - Proficient

  • Star 5 - Advanced

By completing all star levels you can use your certification to find employment in the adventure tourism field.  For more information on star level training and testing  please contact us or get more information on BCU Star level certifications from the British Canoe Union official web site.

All Star level training and testing is done by our star 4 and star 5 instructors and coaches.  Courses are scheduled regularly throughout the summer.  Course cost vary depending on length.
